Air Ballooning...the most romantic way to fly!
Man's earliest successful form of flight, still as capricious
now as it was over 200 years ago when the Montgolfier Brothers
launched their first balloon, though the coals and the straw
for the fire and the paper envelope have become propane burners
and nylon.
The creak of wicker, the stillness, trees reaching through the
mist like signposts to adventure, ancient hill-forts picked
out by the searching fingers of the dawn, deer drifting towards
the woodland as the Pilot brings the balloon gliding into land.
All these and more make up the experiences generated by the
serendipity of wind-borne flight.
Hot air ballooning is about preparation and opportunism. Seizing
advantage of that glittering morning before the cloud and the
rain appear, riding the magic carpet when the frost decorates
the hedgerows, waiting for that electric moment when the burners
roar and your lighter than air leviathan climbs into its' element
to reveal the beauty of Britain's landscape.
